First week PRojects

My first project was my 3 goat boy band. It was roughly inspired by the child's tale of the 3 billy goats gruff. They are all pinch pots that flipped sideways with goat appendages. I like the 3 pinch pots except for Billy, something happened to billy and he turned a light lime green even though he was supposed to be a yellow tawny but hey you live and you learn. Bruck has 2 hoofs, 2 horns and some bangs. Billy had 4 hoofs 1 full horn while there is stump where the other one was and 2 ears one that he has a cattle tag saying Mom to emulate a piercing. Bruce has 2 hoods 2 horns and a GOAT-ee.

My second project was my 2 coil pots. These were fun to create and also very therapeutic. these booth have less base surface area than a quarter so they are tiny. It is very difficult for most people to get stoneware coils so small. However I decided why not and I made them as tiny as i could because why not these were fun to make them not much to say.

My third project was my slab pot. The twisted slab pot was a design choice because it looked cool. The pebble feature was actually a cover up because i am clumsy. The glasze has a gradient made with a sponge. There is not a lot to say it was fun it looks ok nothen more to it.

Hand building

The top project is my pendant that is shaped by a tiny dog. I was having an off day in the wheel group and decided to make my pendant. It is roughly based on my best friends dog named Chito because cats faces are hard to shape. As it is tiny and cute i think it turned out well.

The next project is my face planter that is shaped like a face go figure. His name is Edgar and he is lovely and has a moustache. He has 5 drainage holes in the bottom. I'm not that pleased with him because i trued to give him a rough style but my rough was not rough enough because when covered with glaze it looks lumpy and not stylistic like I planed.

I freaking love this glaze job I am so proud of the glaze. The bird house is in a whimsical style that matches the bird feeder below. The glaze is a combo of lime, snowflake, and ocean aqua underglazes arranged in a gradient as listed above. Then the glazes are sargass, mountain green, albany blue, and dynasty blue mixed in with ruby red to achive a dark navy.

The glaze is the same as above the texture bottom of this bath and the top of the bird house. It comes from a rubber bathmat that mimics rock texture. The bird house has a strategic dips to move water off the birds. Think both of thease was a succsess

This pot is for my brother for his bonsai that he fondly named Bernetha. Its a leaf pattern with a grey coat with a slight blue tint. The leafs were cut with a cookie cutter and attached. This has no frills by design and it fits its purpose perfectly. The other one is another bonsi pot that is brown and shaped like a boat. It's cool.

This is an instance where the clay had a life of its own. It is a windchime with a base and 3 attachments. The base is a skull surrounded by flames think meteor. The three dinosaurs are a green one with ice cream spikes a blue one with a top hat monocle and a peppermint bow tie; the last one is a pink t-rex with a peppermint bow and a fallen ice cream cone.

wheel Projects

My top project was my cork bottle. It began as a wheel project but while on the wheel I screwed up. That made my cork pot become a little on the stunted side. After it became leather hard I caved a design I aimed for a fish rib affect and ended up with a artichoke. I think it was fun not the best looking but definitly fun

My next project was my large serving bowl. It is large red and 7.72 inches in diameter. It has a sponge pattern on the side it was hard to make. **shrugs shoulders** large and red as advertised.

The next project was my replacement for my soap pot. It has a orange inside and indigo outside. And as Bob Ross once said "there are no mistakes just happy accidents". A happy accident is what has befell my pot but the heart is pretty cute to.

One of my last projects was a Lidded pot that had a braided trim and a flower handel. However as I was told by a ceramics one student she had touched the trimming and knocked some off so there are some pieces of missing trim. The glaze looks cool and I like it but I feel like it could be improved somehow. Over all lackluster but not bad.

The fissure cup was the result of mutiny by (most likely) the ceramics students. This was supposed to be a matching set but its brother was.... Murdered in cold clay. So now we have this piece witch I like quite a bit its cute with its glaze job.

This was a team effort with another student named Maysun. We created a coil bunny named Epiphany. She is glazed with caramel and has a slight head tilt giving her an innocent demeanor. this was actually take two the first one was at least 4 times as large and named Boxing Day. But Allas she too was detroyed in the war for fridge space.

This is a set of matching bowels they are the same size and glazed in carmel in white. I lik'em not much else to say
